SAIS Comparative Means:
Spring 2008

In May 2000, the Faculty Senate adopted the Teaching Council's recommendations on Student Review of Teaching that comparative means be removed from the result reports. The report called for the development of an on-line database where instructors could compare individual course means with university-wide means for courses with similar characteristics.

Mean Rating Scale
Comparative means for questions 1-22 on Forms A-I, X and questions 1-13 on Form J are available at the college and university level. Means are calculated for Forms A-J using the following scale:

The buttons to the right indicate the form letters that were used in each college. To view the comparative means, click on the appropriate form letter in the college you desire. Each page indicates the number of respondents and the mean for each item in the college and across the University. The means were calculated using MS Access 2000.
