The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, enrolled 36,304 students in Fall 2023, including 28,883 undergraduates. 64% of undergraduates are from the state of Tennessee, while 14% of graduate/professional students are international. Demographically, 20% of all students identify as non-white and 55% of all students identify as female.

With more than than 300 degree programs, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, prepares students to work and compete in just about every profession. UT strives to develop, implement, support, and assess programs and services that lead to persistence towards graduation. Overall, the six-year undergraduate graduation rate increased from 72.6 percent to 73.5 percent in 2022 while the first year retention rate increased from 88.6 percent to 91.1 percent.
